About Me

Many of our seaside towns are changing. After years of neglect, regeneration is bringing the tourist back to the coast, whether to once again escape to a theatrical utopia, or simply to contemplate where land meets sea. But is it also possible to imbue some of the every day realities and personal histories of living within a seaside community to the tourist? Appropriating the tradition of the seaside souvenir shop, artist Victoria Foster is collaborating with members of Kent coastal towns to produce a series of personal mementos that will be presented as alternatives to the generic and often impersonal souvenirs that we are all too used to seeing.
